Introduction

The Skeith Stone is an incised boulder situated next to a farm track south west of Rennyhill Farm in Kilrenny. Little is known about its provenance or purpose. An entry into RCAHMS Canmore database, dated 1903 records that the stone is inscribed with a cross within a circular ring. Within the ring are eight lozenge or leaf shaped depressions, arranged in pairs to form a cross. These markings are now faint due to the effects of weathering on the stone.
