Introduction

Towards the northern boundary of the parish of Auchtertool is the site of what was said to be a small church dedicated to St. Finnan. The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland notes that in 1855 three stone coffins, containing human bones, were found on the site, which is now farmland. There are no surface remains of a structure and the exact site within the arable farm land is not clear.
