Caird Avenue

The United Free Church is set on a corner site on a junction midway up a busy road towards the Hilltown area. The grounds have railings on all sides and there is a central path leading to the main entrance.  The northwest corner of the site has been carefully nurtured with exotic plants. The surrounding area is mostly comprised of 19th century tenement buildings.

This white harled building is set back from the road. The doorway has three low wide steps in front of its pedimented Norman arch which is surrounded by a moulded square frame. The gable is topped by an incorporated finial. This is the only ecclesiastical feature in an otherwise plain construction. It was originally a symmetrical construction with rectangular windows but now has halls added. K. Nichols
